Cory Booker, Senator from New Jersey, stood on the senate floor starting Monday at 7 pm and spoke for 25 hours and 5 minutes to DO SOMETHING, anything, to try and stop the cruelty of the Trump/Musk administration who has been actively gutting federal funding, jobs, and entire federal departments that so many of us Americans rely on for our basic human rights. Booker stood for 25 hours without any bathroom breaks! He took no breaks at all! I found him to be completely inspiring. He sacrificed his comfort and health to DO SOMETHING to resist the enormous changes this administration has been traumatizing our country with.
I keep feeling like I have a moral obligation to also DO SOMETHING to help stop this madness! The last thing I want is to sit on the sidelines and watch America and the rest of humanity burn to the ground. It is this complacency, the complacency of the masses, that has helped pave the path for these greedy, evil rulers to buy their way to the highest position in the world, and now they are working to transform it into their kingdom where we will “never have to vote again” (Trump’s words).
There is a lot in this last sentence; greedy rulers who bought (as well as robbed and cheated) their way to power and now they want to stay there forever like it’s their god given kingdom! Isn’t this why the first settlers sailed to Turtle Island (now called America) because they no longer wanted to live under the abusive power of a monarchy, or imperialism?! Isn’t this why we fought the Revolutionary War, in which we won and thus the United States of America was created?! In this scenario, Trump/Musk would be the enemies of America and its democratic dream! Yet they are now the ones who are ruling this country that once stood for freedom, opportunity, and democracy. Now these pillars are crumbling and doing so very quickly. We are entering an era history tried to warn us about. Our own complacency made us ignore the signs and/or become numb to them.
There have been many tools used by our oppressors to ensure we the people remain numb and complacent. Numbing us with mindless, addictive media. Numbing us with lies and propaganda. Numbing us with confusion and incessant attacks on groups of people they, the oppressors, have deemed different and unworthy of human rights. They have divided us, and done anything to distract us, forcing our attention on what they deem as our differences, even manipulating religious doctrines to embolden their oppression over those of us whom they deem subhuman. This division of the people is necessary for our oppressors to maintain their power over us, because they know when the people are united we are an unstoppable force that will destroy them! It is their greatest weapon to divide us.
We the people are starving for the truth. We don’t want to be manipulated by the “messaging” that JD Vance alluded to in the now famous Signalgate scandal which is the most egregious breach of our national security that has ever happened in our nation's history. We the people don’t want to be manipulated or sold a litany of dangerous lies. The oligarchs who own mass media, will only feed you the bullshit that keeps you numb and complacent. But please know we all deserve the truth!
Senator Cory Booker repeatedly said, “the power of the people is greater than the people in power”. And ever since Trump/Musk started officially working towards destroying democracy I keep hearing this chant in my head, “THE PEOPLE UNITED WILL NEVER BE DIVIDED!”
My fellow humans, it is time for us all to come together and unite! I don’t care who you voted for, because like Senator Booker also said, “it’s not about left or right at this point, it is about right and wrong!” We must all come together now. This is not a test. The moment has come. You were born for this! Lift your voice and speak your truth!
